INVITATION FOR STUDENT ATTACHMENT
VEDCO in partnership with Ateker Transformation and Sustainability (ATSI) is implementing the Cereal Farmer Research Network project, a farmer-centered project entitled “Building resilient Agroecological small grain cereal system” for millet & sorghum crops, in the dry lands of eastern Uganda, in three [3] Semi-Arid districts of: Pallisa, Ngora and Amuria. The project is funded by the McKnight Foundation, under the collaborative crop research program umbrella.
The project is implemented in a phased manner; the first phase that ran from 2019-2021, concentrated on piloting the use of tested and proven agroecological cereal-legume farming technologies, focusing on use of farm yard manure, cereal-legume intercrop, use of improved crop varieties & integrated practices, towards sustainable soil health enhancement, striga management, increased production and productivity, as indicated by improved quality & quantity of crop yields, household food security & crop biodiversity that promote agroecosystem productivity and resilience (Ricciardi et al., 2021)
