Food and Nutrition Security
The objective for this thematic area is to develop sustainable and resilient production systems for Food & Nutrition security which will lead to increased agricultural production and food supply, as well as enhanced food nutrition & food utilization. This is achieved through promotion and adoption of Good Agronomic Practices (GAPS), strengthening farmers’ capacities in crop & livestock production, improve food storage at house hold level through promotion & adoption of good post-harvest handling & loss reducing technologies, and strengthening feeding practices for children, Women of Reproductive Age, and People Living with HIV (PLHIV).

Inclusive Agricultural Trade and Farmer Business development
The objective for this thematic area is to deepen Agricultural Trade and Business Development which will lead to increased market access, participation in profitable commodity value chains, value addition and inclusive agricultural financing. This is achieved through building & strengthening the capacities of small holder Farmers (SHFs) and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to run sustainable & profitable businesses, increasing profitability & viability of agricultural value chains, increasing farmers’ participation in domestic and regional markets and linking farmers’ access to agricultural financing.

Humanitarian Emergency Response & Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)
The objective for this thematic area is to increase the Institution’s readiness to respond in a timely manner to humanitarian emergencies to save lives, show compassion and minimize human suffering, support recovery & rehabilitation. This is achieved through enhanced coordination & decisive action for timely response, strengthening of the emergency and disaster preparedness actions to save lives. In addition, VEDCO supports fragile and conflict affected communities to build resilient livelihoods and empower them through emergency employment initiatives.
Policy Research and Advocacy
The objective for this thematic area is to continue developing the capacities of our communities to participate in policy advocacy, access to information & knowledge on the respective policy processes and building vibrant community- based structures to influence related policy processes & programmes. This is done through engaging community members in policy processes that influence food and nutrition security, GBV prevention, access to markets, quality inputs, standards and access to information and knowledge.

Climate Change and Natural Resource Management
The objective for this thematic area is to develop vulnerable communities’ adaptive capacity and resilience to the effects of climate change and the resultant shocks. This is achieved through agro- ecosystems re-constructions, strengthening communities’ capacity to cope with effects of natural disasters and promoting climate change adaptation (CCA) technologies & practices and promoting sustainable access to energy services.
Institutional Development
The objective for this thematic area is to strengthen the Institution’s capacity to deliver effective and sustainable interventions for all its operations and to all the stake holders. This is achieved through strengthening the BOD on delivering its mandate, developing and strengthening Institutional policies & systems, developing & operationalizing VEDCO's financial sustainability plan, creating networks and partnerships and strengthening VEDCO's M&E system.

Organization (NGO) that was started in 1986 working with Vulnerable communities in

Uganda to improve their livelihoods. The organization was registered in 1992 as a Non-
Government Organization (NGO) under the NGO statute of 1989.
